D. C. T.'s second single, "Hero,"
was released on November 11, 2020 (Veteran's Day USA) in dedication to
all veterans of war, and as a special tribute to veterans of the Vietnam War. The band wrote the song in honour of Jāz's father who served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1970. With it's deeply personal lyrics, the band hopes to inspire listeners to "take the time to see the pain carried in a stranger's eyes"... to honour the heroes who’ve served in battle... and to acknowledge the silent suffering that all veterans endure.
To all of you veterans out there... men, women, those who are no longer with us, those lost in battle... thank you for your service, thank you for your sacrifice...
You are our heroes.

standing on the sidelines
it’s easy to say how to play the game
before you judge him
take a walk in his boots
thru the jungle from where he came.
it was never easy for him
but he kept on anyway
day after day
running from the memories...
the memories that would never fade.
i’m sorry papa
i know life has been hard for you
but I just want you to know
i think you’re a hero
i love you papa
i’m always hoping the best for you
and I want you to know
you’re my hero.
he’s always been a little misunderstood
i know i’ve misunderstood him, too
we’ve all got a story to tell
if there’s someone there
to listen.
he waved goodbye with dreams in his eyes
lost his innocence under smoke-filled skies
they called him lucky just to be alive
but that boy never came home.
i’m sorry papa
i know life has been hard for you
but I just want you to know
i think you're a hero
i love you papa
i’m always hoping the best for you
and I just want you to know
you’re my hero.
you gave me your wings
but I only wanted to see you fly
let’s fly together, papa
‘till we reach the sky
we’ll leave the past behind.
the years went by, he made a family
working hard to provide, he gave them everything
but the war inside he battled every night
a silent suffering he faced alone.
but people rarely seem to take the time
to see the pain carried in a strangers eyes
i hope you never, never believed their lies
you paid the price now, papa come home.
i’m sorry papa
i know life has been hard for you
but I just want you to know
i think you're a hero
i love you papa
i’m always hoping the best for you
and I just want you to know
you’re my hero.
